Meet Dr. Nicole Taleon

Dr. Nicole Taleon, known fondly as Nik Tal, is a specialist general practitioner (GP), experienced mentor, and passionate advocate for international medical graduates (IMGs) pursuing their dream to practice in Australia.

She completed her medical degree at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (ASMPH) in the Philippines in 2013, and after passing both AMC 1 and 2 on her first attempt in 2017, she began her Australian medical career as an RMO at Gosford Hospital, NSW. Nicole then advanced to a Senior RMO role, entered formal GP training with RVTS in Boonah, QLD, and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2025. She now practices as a Specialist GP in the Sunshine Coast with interests in women’s health and skin cancer medicine, holding both Professional and Advanced Certificates in Skin Cancer Medicine.

Since 2018, Nicole has mentored hundreds of doctors through every step of the IMG journey— exam preparation, CV development, and interview success. What began as helping a small group of friends has since grown into a thriving online community of 9,000+ members: Filipino Doctors to/in/for Australia. Her warm, no-nonsense style and unmatched experience have made her one of the most trusted mentors in this space.

Through Doctor Down Under, Nicole offers structured mentorship via masterclasses, one-on-one coaching, and networking opportunities with doctors in various specialty training programs. Unlike recruiters, she doesn’t place doctors— she guides them, empowers them, and helps them make informed, confident decisions about their careers and lives in Australia.

When she’s not working full-time as a GP or mentoring aspiring IMGs, Nicole continues to give back—donating a portion of her business proceeds to a dog shelter in Bacolod City and to scholars at the Philippine Science High School.
